EPC
An energy assessment was conducted in September 2024 with the Hall awarded the very good rating of B. Click here to see the full report
Our walls and roof spaces are fully insulated and the Hall is double-glazed throughout.
Solar PV
Solar PV panels were installed at the Hall in 2011. They allow us to use free, renewable, clean electricity to heat and light the hall as well as powering appliances. We are also able to sell excess electricity to the grid which provides an income for the Hall through FIT (Feed In Tariff) payments.
Solar Water Heating
An Immersun Power Diverter was installed to maximise our energy efficiency. It redirects surplus electricity from our solar PV system to the immersion heater, providing free hot water and reducing grid reliance.
Heating
Infrared heaters were installed in the Hall in 1984. These have been shown to be the most efficient form of heating for a Village Hall due to their mode of action. Rather than heating the air, they heat objects .....including people!
Lighting
All lights in the main hall (and most other lights) use energy efficient LED bulbs.
We have committed to moving to LED bulbs throughout the Hall
Cycle Racks
We have a cycle rack for up to six cycles at the Hall and would encourage hirers to walk or cycle when possible.
The Future
The committee are investigating the viability of adding a battery storage system to make more use of the free energy generated from our solar PV panels
