In 2024 Brooks Williams releases his first solo recording in four years. Diamond Days is a love-song to his guitar, and to the songs and stories that fuel the rich tapestry of the singing life to which he has been devoted for over three decades.

Recorded at Red Kite Studio in Wales with both Martin Levan (Andrew Lloyd Webber and John Martyn) and Mark Freegard (The Breeders and Del Amiti), Williams chose to record this one without a net. Simply one singer and one guitar.

The songs are rich narratives including Palomino Gold (a story passed down the generations), Gone And Done It Now (a post-Civil War vignette), London Road (with its bangin' chorus), Big Sky (a minor modal meditation) and Bob Dylan’s Nettie Moore (played on bottleneck slide).

With one foot firmly planted in the land of his birth, Statesboro, Georgia, USA, and the other in the land of his adopted home, Cambridge, UK, Brooks Williams is, as Martin Simpson says, “the real thing.”  His guitar style is called “jaw-droppingly effortless,” his voice is “like chocolate,” and his vast and varied repertoire of both original and interpreted songs as “wholly idiomatic and authentic.”  Since his earliest days playing the bars and clubs in New York and New England, to his more recent critically acclaimed concerts with Aaron Catlow or State of the Union across the UK, audiences are drawn to Williams’ restless drive to light the creative spark.
